We are seeking a Technology Integration Specialist for the Changzhou Global Academy in Changzhou, China.
This role is a 2-yr position based in Changzhou, China beginning August 1, 2019.
This is an opportunity for a visionary, enthusiastic and creative teacher-leader who will embrace a rare and exciting opportunity to lead the process of building unique programs in STEM, project-based learning and design thinking. The Global Academy will offer a curriculum with a strong focus on fusing 21st century learning skills into the broader curriculum.
In the start-up year, the school will be small, with approximately 100 middle school students housed in temporary facilities. As such one aspect of 2019’s primary responsibilities will be to plan programs for the opening of the Center for Inquiry and Creativity on the main campus in the fall of 2020.
This is a growth position and will become a key leadership position for the Global Academy, one that should touch all aspects of the Academy’s academic program.
In collaboration with the other instructional leaders, lay the foundation for a creative and forward-looking technology integration plan for the Global Academy.
Provide leadership with Project-Based Learning activities.
Coordinate efforts to support and develop the use of technology as a tool to support teaching and learning.
Serve as coach and mentor to assist faculty in implementation and integration.
Provide workshops and training for faculty in educational technology skills and applications.
Assist faculty in developing units, projects, or other educational technology applications within their curriculum.
Assist and support faculty in developing a 1:1 learning environment in their classrooms.
Teach 1-2 STEM classes each day.
While collaborating with other instructional leaders, take the lead as the Academy’s liaison with the architectural team to shape the final design of the space in the Center for Inquiry and Creativity.
In 2020 it is anticipated that this position will focus more sharply on building the programs that will be housed in the Center.
Assist in hiring, supervising, and evaluation of teachers in the STEM program.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
A bachelor’s degree, but a master’s degree is preferred. Specific training in computer science or its use in the educational setting is required.
Five years’ experience teaching in related fields.
Experience in curriculum creation, planning, and implementation.
Experience with a fabrication lab, flexible project spaces, collaboration classrooms, and digital media labs.
Experience living, working, or studying abroad.
Excellent command of the English language, written and oral, and effective interpersonal communication skills, including sensitivity and diplomacy in dealing with people from numerous countries and cultures.
Detail-oriented and ability to work independently without direct supervision.
