JOB OVERVIEW - PART TIME / Fully Benefited: Employer Paid Medical, Dental & Vision.
This 4 hours/day position works in partnership with the Director of Extended Day Programs (EDP), preschool teachers and preschool instructional assistants. Hours are 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm daily. Under the direction of the Director of EDP, the successful applicant will plan and deliver developmentally appropriate activities for preschool children, provide care and rest periods for the children and perform a variety of other needed services. In addition to work with students, the EDP counselor will communicate with families about their child/children and collaborate with the rest of the EDP team.
Education and Experience:
Community College and/or University degree (Teacher Certification considered a plus)
Experience in working with young children in a school/church setting
Volunteer work with preschool children in a variety of settings
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Commitment to the mission of Villa Academy
Desire to work with preschool age children and an enjoyment of spending time with them
Ability to work with and supervise children in small groups, one-on one, or whole class
Familiarity with current developmentally appropriate practices in Early Childhood Education
Ability to collaborate and work with colleagues
Effective oral and written communication skills with children, co-workers and families
Ability to plan and deliver activities daily
Confidence and ability to manage the energy and behavior of young children

30 Hours Basic STARS course, BBP/HIV/AIDS online training, First Aid/CPR (if needed) will need to be completed within 45 days of employment
