Job Title: Associate Head of School - Jackson Campus

This leader is responsible for the day to day operations of PreK-12 TSS Independent School education on the Jackson Campus. The Associate Head is responsible for fostering an atmosphere conducive to learning. The position is the daily face of the school to students, faculty, and families and holds parent communication and relationships. Ultimately, the Associate Head leads and stewards the TSS culture and approach as it is embodied in a PreK-12 school in Jackson, WY. The Associate Head has particular ownership on "community focus".
Responsibilities include but not limited to: Dean of Students; student discipline; keep HOS informed on all issues of student life; oversee parent communication and relationships; maintain master school calendar; schedule events; regular meetings with faculty; oversee co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. Accountable for the operations of the school at their particular campus.
Strong experience in learner centered classroom education.
Experience leading high functioning teams toward a common mission.
Educational professional with at least 5 years experience in teaching or administration.
Master's Degree preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience in and commitment to immersive education models (place-based education, project-based learning, study abroad, service learning, wilderness education, farm and garden programs, etc.).
Ability to work effectively with a stakeholders, including administration, faculty, parents, students, and program facilitators.
Strong systems thinking skills with experience in operations.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, Google Apps and budgeting software.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Able to write / type / communicate.
Primarily based at Jackson Campus with occasional travel in surrounding areas.
Able to sit/stand at a desk for up to 8 hours.
90% PreK-12 Jackson Campus Operational Leadership
Oversee all issues pertaining to the well-being of students during their attendance at the school.
Develop and oversee quality of parent communication systems.
Work with the Head of School to develop and manage academic and social policies, protocols, and practices that serve to support student development, learning, health and safety.
Collaborate with the Directors of Teacher & Learning to provide academic support, student counseling, and testing.
Supervise all aspects of co-curricular and extra curricular activities.
Promote high standards and expectations for academic engagement, character development and community focus.
Schedule parent-teacher conferences; maintain records regarding academic performance.
Oversee student conduct and maintain student discipline.
Address social and academic infractions; maintain correspondence related to grades and conduct with parents and other concerned parties.
Ensure the health and safety of students on campus.
Coordinate new-student orientation.
Prepare and maintain the school's master calendar.
Develop and implement the Student and Family Handbooks.
Keep the head of school informed regarding student issues and campus life.
Enable and accountable for all aspects of a positive and effective PreK through grade 12 learning environment for all students and families.
Supervise Office Manager and College Placement Coordinator.
Represents TSS Independent School at all Jackson campus and cross-campus functions.
Perform other duties as assigned by and in support of the Head of School.
5% Independent School Advancement
Support the Advancement Department, Development Committee, and Independent School Committee in Jackson Campus specific fundraising.
Support the Director of Enrollment Management in recruitment of new students through tours, communication, etc.
Proactively represent the TSS Independent School presence through appropriate community forums improving school visibility and value.
5% One TSS
Cross markets TSS programs when opportunities arise.
Active involvement in institutional committees (ie: strategic plan committees).
Proactively and positively shares the TSS mission and program structure with external stakeholders.
Supports and contributes to the work of the Operations Team, representing the independent schools.
