Charles Wright Academy is an independent coeducational day school offering a broad curriculum in the liberal arts. Founded in 1957, the school enrolls 660 students in grades junior kindergarten through twelve. We are located in a suburban neighborhood southwest of Tacoma, approximately 1 mile from Puget Sound and within the shadow of Mt. Rainier.

Summary: This position is a full-time, long-term substitute faculty appointment for the second and third trimester of the 2018-2019 academic year (approximate dates of obligation: March TBD, 2018 through June 7, 2019).
Responsibilities: * Assists teachers in activities and lessons in the classroom * Works with individual students and small groups of students * Assesses student learning using assessment tools identified by the classroom teachers and the Lower School Learning Specialist * Collaborates with the classroom teachers and the Learning Specialist to identify interventions needed by individual students and to implement the interventions * Prepares materials as needed for classroom activities * Assists with recess supervision * Represents Charles Wright Academy in a positive manner with all constituencies * Supports a happy, inviting, and nurturing learning environment
Qualifications: * High School diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred * Ability to communicate well * Ability to take direction and work reliably * Good organizational skills and planning capability * Sense of humor, a passion for working with children and an ability to relate well to a variety of constituencies (faculty, parents and students). * First Aid and CPR certification, preferred
