Our school seeks a professional, experienced and passionate educator to teach 3rd grade as a long-term sub and join our vibrant team of faculty. The qualified candidate will have teaching experience at the elementary level, background/interest/passion for teaching language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science in a self-contained classroom. A bachelor’s degree in a related educational field is required. In addition, our teachers must exhibit a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position will likely begin in April and run through June.
Successful candidates will have sound pedagogical skills, experience with teaching Everyday Math, and experience with the Lucy Calkins Readers/Writers Workshop. Candidates should have patience, highly developed writing and organizational skills, and the desire to build positive and meaningful relationships with students in a manner consistent with our child-centered, integrated, and developmentally appropriate curriculum. Candidates should have interest and experience working in a diverse setting and also demonstrate cultural competency. We seek and value diversity in our teaching staff and welcome applicants of all backgrounds and identities. Advanced degree preferred but not required.

The school’s curriculum emphasizes Quaker values, academic strength, and cultural competence. Greene Street graduates attend the top private and public magnet high schools, the largest percentage attending Central High School. Since the mid-1960’s the school has implemented a mission-based business model that prioritizes financial accessibility, with an enrollment of 45% - 55% students of color. Over the past twenty years, the school has doubled both in enrollment and campus size. Current enrollment is 320 students on a campus of three acres. The annual budget is $5M, no debt.
