Saint Mary’s faculty members strive to bring the mission of the school to life by creating classrooms that are engaging. Faculty members report to the Dean of Teaching and Learning through their academic leader. Faculty members are responsible for all aspects of the classes they teach, for participation in various departmental and school groups and endeavors, and for participating as chaperone or sponsor or in some other capacity in aspects of the student life program.
Teach a full load of classes as assigned, with a focus on expanding and developing a computer science program. Current courses include Coding and AP Computer Science. Depending upon the candidate's interests, additional courses may be assigned, e.g., mathematics, robotics, etc.
Design learning to engage and inspire students to develop the capacity and interest for the subject area.
Assess and report on students’ progress.
Communicate with parents effectively and frequently through regularly scheduled progress reports and at other times as necessary, most notably when students encounter difficulty.
Provide academic support: Provide individual or small-group to assist students in their understanding of the curriculum.
An opportunity to be a leader for various STEM initiatives, including design labs and robotics.
A chance to demonstrate leadership in infusing technology into the classroom in creative and innovative ways.
Serve as an advisor.
An opportunity to live on campus and assist in activities associated with the boarding life.
Perform other duties as necessary or as assigned.
Perform weekend and night responsibilities to support the growth of the residential community and the academic program.

Bachelor’s degree in teaching field; Advanced degree preferred.
Demonstrated interest in the K-12 education of girls.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to establish priorities.
Qualifications that meet SACS/SAIS requirements or willingness to acquire them in a specified time
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including composing and proofreading.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
May deal with stressful situations in the normal course of duties, including a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
Work primarily in a traditional climate controlled classroom environment.
Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of times.
Standing, bending, reaching and moving about to coordinate work.
