The Croft School is a new, highly-acclaimed independent school in Providence, Rhode Island. Our school opened in Fall 2018 with a 20-student Kindergarten classroom. About The Role
The Croft School is seeking an Associate Head of School. In partnership with the Founder/Head of School, the Associate Head of School will lead and oversee day-to-day programming at The Croft School. Among other responsibilities, the Associate Head of School will:
Ensure the student program, including all curriculum and instruction, is executed with excellence and in alignment with the school’s ambitious goals;
Manage and coach all of the school’s classroom teachers;
Establish a positive, fun, relationship-driven school-wide culture;
Hold our team accountable to an educational approach that is genuinely personalized, meeting each child’s interests and needs; and
Develop close, trusting relationships with all of the school’s families.
The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial team leader who continually seeks out ways in which the school can “raise the bar” and innovate beyond its current level of high performance. The candidate most qualified for this role is likely to have had experience as the leader of -- or on a leadership team at -- a high-performing charter, independent, or otherwise autonomous school.
Qualifications and Qualities
2+ years of leadership team experience in a high-performing school setting (can include experience as a teacher-leader)
Expertise in early elementary education, particularly in the domains of results-driven curriculum and pedagogy and developing a positive school climate
Top-tier managerial and coaching skills, sharpened through direct oversight of other teachers and educators
An entrepreneurial spirit coupled with an ambitious work ethic, as well as a natural desire to go above and beyond to serve students and their families in both expected and unexpected ways.
Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, inclusive of empathy for others, thoughtful listening, team-orientation, and enthusiasm for being part of a small, close-knit team.
Self-reflectiveness, humility, and an eagerness to continually improve one’s practice.
A strong desire to remain in leadership at The Croft school for 5+ years.
Strong ties to and/or a long-term commitment to Rhode Island.
A Master’s Degree is preferred. A Bachelor’s Degree and current authorization to work in the United States are required.
