Cape Henry Collegiate seeks a student-centered educational leader to serve as Head of Lower School. Applicants must possess a genuine affection for young children and a passion for progressive, purposeful education. We seek an individual who can commit fully to the implementation of the School’s mission to know, value and challenge each student, to build a diverse and inclusive community, and to graduate independent thinkers and globally aware citizens.
The new Head of Lower School will be an enthusiastic member of a collaborative team dedicated to strategic and thoughtful improvement. In addition to being a confident leader, our Head of Lower School must be a proactive communicator dedicated to maintaining positive faculty, parent and community relationships. He or she should have knowledge of curriculum and pedagogy for young learners and be comfortable coaching and supervising faculty. The ideal candidate will be able to use student achievement data as a balanced part of supporting instructional decision making. Strong organizational and management skills are a must.
Located on a 30-acre campus in a residential area within five miles of the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Henry Collegiate serves over 950 students. Established in 1924 as the Everett School, today Cape Henry Collegiate is the only accredited Prekindergarten through 12th Grade, college preparatory, coeducational, independent day school in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We are accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools and recognized as an accredited school by the Virginia Board of Education.
A master’s degree and leadership/administrative experience beyond the classroom are required.
This 12-month position will begin on July 1, 2019, and includes an attractive benefit package and competitive salary based on experience.
