Reporting to the Director of Technology, this 12-month staff position primarily works with our information data systems, currently Blackbaud, and other related databases. The main responsibilities are the day-to-day upkeep of the data systems to ensure workflow requirements are met. The Database Support Specialist maintains documentation, updates policies and procedures, trains users, keeps up with vendor software changes and incorporates industry best practices. Additionally, as part of the technology department goal is to ensure data integrity between the various systems within the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative contact with Blackbaud and other related systems.
Assist with day-to-day maintenance of Blackbaud and related systems.
Work with Admission Office (duplicates, financial aid module, online enrollment and online re-enrollment)
Work with Academic Office (transcripts, effort & achievement reports, comments, report cards, and calendar)
Work with Business Office (Financial Edge NXT, SmartTuition, ODIN, MyKidsSpending, and Excel)
Work with Advancement Office (Razors Edge NXT, queries, reports and analytics)
Work with Athletic Department (schedules, rosters)
Work with Faculty managing course data (gradebook, assignments, resources)
Integration with other sub-systems, (i.e. Google, Magnus, and SchoolDude)
Routine maintenance in Blackbaud (user accounts, yearly rollover, creating/updating lists, import/export of data, data refresh)
Train end users in access, security, use, and customization of workspace either individually or as a group.
Create tutorials and documentation as needed for constituent groups (Faculty, Staff, Students, Parents, Coaches, etc.)
Create Policies & Procedures Manuals for internal departments.
Respond to problems in workflow or unmet business needs with strategies and potential solutions.
Continual training to expand and maintain knowledge of software features necessary to ensure the resolution of a range of issues.
Attend and actively participate in periodic department and related meetings.
Maintain daily schedules and alerts.
Help Desk support related to database systems.
Other duties as assigned.
Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Database or Information Technology (relevant experience may substitute for degree)
A minimum of 5 years of related work experience, preferably in an educational setting
Previous working experience with Blackbaud On products, Razors Edge, and Financial Edge required
Excellent database and computer skills; expertise in data and records management
Strong customer service skills and ability to work with faculty, staff, and students
Effective written and oral communication skills, and attention to detail
High level of initiative and ability to work independently
