Reporting to the CFO, the part-time Payroll Manager is responsible for providing customer service and executing end to end payroll processes. Kingsley Montessori School’s Payroll Manager will provide coordination and continuous improvement of current business processes within the payroll department. End to end processing includes payroll support for approximately 90 employees. Duties include the preparation and review of payroll data, calculation of exception items and garnishments, and reports. The Payroll Manager will also partner with HR to review and audit personnel entries made by HR and assist the Business Office with other payroll-related projects as needed.
Supports the Kingsley Montessori School faculty and staff via effective management of the payroll process, serving as primary subject matter expert including the calculation, preparation and submission of payroll.
Available to work full days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Hours can be somewhat flexible on those days (i.e., 8:00-4:00, 8:30-4:30, 9:00-5:00).
Maintain information on salaries and salary changes.
Track various payroll deductions such as benefits, including: medical and dental insurance, and parking/T passes.
Processing timesheet to be included in the payroll.
Process retirement contributions after payroll is through.
Following each payroll, make a journal entry, which goes into our General Ledger.
Serve as subject matter expert on employee situation that impact payroll such as short-term disability and/or and unpaid leave of absence.
Ability to execute extremely deadline-driven tasks in a timely and effective manner.
Research and resolve payroll issues through Kingsley’s payroll vendor (Paychex).
Collaborates with business partners and management to provide properly controlled processes to meet the needs of both employees and leadership.
Maintain payroll expertise by staying up date on statutory compliance.
Maintains employee payroll garnishments.
Processes off-cycle payments upon approvals.
Provide audit and census data upon request.
Other duties and HR tasks related to payroll as assigned.
Educational Background: BA/BS
Experience: 1-2 years. Equivalent combination of experience and education/relevant internships will be considered.
While experience working in an independent school is not required, we are seeking candidates with some experience working in a professional office.

o Outstanding attention to detail o Customer service oriented o Demonstrated ability to problem solve, trouble-shoot issues, and suggest process improvements where appropriate. This includes tracking down discrepancies in numbers as needed.
• The ideal candidate will have exceptional computer skills, including:
o Excel (including sorting, filters, formulas, cell reference, etc.) o Outlook o Word o Familiarity with a leading payroll program like Paychex or its competitor(s) would be a plus!
