Germantown Academy, located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, is seeking qualified, experienced candidates for the position of School Store Manager, beginning January, 2019. This is a 12-month position which offers an excellent array of benefits and a highly competitive salary. The Academy, founded in 1759, is a non-sectarian, coeducational, college preparatory school of more than 1,100 students in Grades PK-12, located in the northwest suburbs of Philadelphia on a campus of 126 acres.

Position Purpose: Reporting to the Director of Operations, the School Store Manager will manage the daily financial and retail operations of the school store. He or she will promote GA-related items in the store and at special events. The School Store Manager will assist with Summer Programs as the Welcome Center Director as well as other administrative duties.
Key Responsibilities: School Store Manager
1. Plan and direct the day-to-day operations of the School Store. 2. Develop strategies to improve customer service, drive sales and increase profitability. 3. Maintain standards of quality and affordability through agreed-upon pricing models to achieve the overall goal of revenue generation for the Academy. 4. Provide friendly and professional customer service when selling supplies and specialty items to all members of the community. 5. Ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient. 6. Ensure all products and displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales and profitability. 7. Maintain awareness of events, meetings and other GA gatherings to make sure the School Store is fully stocked with short and long term items. 8. Supervise, mentor and support part-time and full-time staff. 9. Facilitate special interest orders for sports teams, clubs and organizations throughout the GA community. 10. Utilize electronic inventory tracking system to maintain accurate and updated inventories and process all in-store purchases. 11. Authorize payment for accounts receivable related to the School Store and maintain accounts payable records. 12. Work together with the Accounting Manager to ensure accuracy of record keeping and cash drawer. Close out cash drawer daily and make weekly deposits to the Business Office. 13. Assist with creation of overall marketing strategy for in-store sales and special events. 14. Coordinate satellite sales of store merchandise at appropriate venues/events throughout the school year. 15. Produce specialty items for promotion around special events such as GA-PC Day, winter holidays and graduation. 16. Establish close working relationships with various vendors to fulfill inventory needs and merchandise/product development. 17. Assist with textbook purchases for faculty.
Summer Programs Welcome Center Director 1. Work closely with the Assistant Director of Operations to ensure a smooth transition from school year to summer by supporting the camp planning process. 2. Assist with the management of the ACTIVE system by overseeing summer attendance and managing the Welcome Center. 3. Act as the Pavilion Coordinator by answering the phones, scanning IDs into the Raptor system, and other administrative tasks.
Other Responsibilities: 1. Responsible for appearance and cleanliness of School Store and surrounding space. 2. Establish good working relationship with Pavilion Manager and Housekeeping staff. 3. Work with the Office of Institutional Advancement to create advertising media. 4. Create an open, friendly atmosphere that is comfortable and inviting to all members of the GA community and visitors. 5. Some evening and weekend hours required as necessary for special events such as GA/PC day, open house events, etc.
1. Retail management and marketing experience. 2. Competency in MS Office products and database and inventory software. 3. Strong accounting skills. 4. A friendly, outgoing manner and strong customer service skills. 5. Good organizational skills. 6. Ability to write and communicate clearly and effectively.
