About the Guerin Institute
The Guerin Family Institute is designed to be the “hub of innovation” for Milken Community Schools. At its core, the state-of-the-art, Fab Lab-inspired space is designed to allow students to build and create almost anything they can imagine. Already, students and teachers use the space for projects such as fully functioning robots, new kinds of musical instruments, enhanced prosthetic limbs, theater props, art and architecture projects, game design, fashion design, and more. Our intent is to make the Guerin Institute even more accessible to our community, and central to the entire learning process here at Milken.
The Fab Lab Educator is a full-time teacher reporting to the Director of STEAM Integration. The Fab Lab Educator supports curriculum, instruction, and programming centered within the Guerin Institute and works with the Director of STEAM Integration to ensure that the vision and goals of this space are clearly articulated and align with the mission of the school and portrait of the graduate. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a highly collaborative environment where value is placed on the skills and passions of each educator within a larger context of school mission and integrative thinking. Primary responsibilities include assisting students and teachers with projects, designing projects that can be integrated into core subjects, maintaining Fab Lab equipment, updating software, and being a host to the many people who visit our Fab Lab.
