The Academic Support Coordinator is a full-time member of the upper school faculty, reporting to the Upper School Academic Dean and working closely with the grade-level assistant principals, teachers, and counseling team. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an innovative, inclusive, and diverse program

Duties and Responsibilities:
Meets one-on-one with students to teach executive functioning, including but not limited to time management, organization, study skills, and test taking skills.
Works with students on individual learning needs and/or challenges
Works in partnership with students, parents, faculty, and administration to interpret and understand psychoeducational testing
Develops formal, school-based accommodation plans for students
Has knowledge of the testing accommodations process with ACT/SAT
Serves as liaison for the school with parents and outside learning services providers
Meets regularly with grade level assistant principals, counselors, and teachers regarding student learning needs
Coordinates and manages weekly organizational study sessions for small groups of students.
Serves as a secondary assessment proctor for students with specific testing needs such as using a reader, or small group administration
Teaches executive functioning skills, test preparation, and other student skills in the 9th grade advisory program
Serves as a faculty advisor for a group of 8-12 students by following the advisory curriculum, and developing strong relationships with students and parents
Meets with parents as needed
Is professional, timely, and compassionate in responding to all constituents
Creates a safe and inclusive environment
Engages and encourages students in the active process of learning
Holds students accountable for their actions and their learning
Holds high expectations for all students and communicates these expectations clearly and regularly
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in both subject matter and methodology
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Learning Differences, Educational Psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Prior relevant experience working with 7-12 grade students regarding learning differences and learning strategies required; experience in schools strongly preferred
