Sonoma Country Day School seeks a dynamic middle school educator to lead our Middle School division (Grades 5-8). The Division Head reports to the Head of School and is an integral part of the school leadership team with responsibility for academic leadership, overseeing student life, and ensuring comportment of students according to our Community Code. Additional responsibilities include:
Purposefully integrate the school mission (Bring Learning To Life through our Guiding Principles of Engagement, Relationship, Integrity, Creativity, and Contribution) among all activities of the division
Establish and maintain healthy, productive relationships with students, faculty and staff, and parents
Collaborate among various constituents to identify initiatives that drive excellence according to the school’s mission
Lead faculty to create inspiring and age appropriate learning environments with clear expectations of classwork and homework among students, faculty, and parents
Systematically evaluate faculty, identify appropriate professional development opportunities, and work with the Head of School on faculty hiring and retention
Provide for the academic guidance of students by managing academic policies and means of assessment (including administration of standardized testing), maintaining academic records, and overseeing grading and reporting standards
Establish guidelines and accountability measures for proper student conduct and citizenship
Oversee the coordination of co-curricular opportunities
Ensure the safety of faculty and students
Founded in 1983, Sonoma Country Day School is a co-educational, independent day school serving students in grades TK-8. The ideal candidate will be a model of servant-leadership while partnering with faculty, staff and the Head of School to fulfill the mission of the school. Preferred candidates will possess an advanced degree and a minimum of 5 to 10 years of teaching and administrative experience, ideally in an independent school environment.
