The Lexington School is seeking a dynamic educational leader to be our next Middle School Division Head. The Lexington School is a nationally renowned, two-year old through eighth grade independent school located in Lexington, Kentucky. Founded in 1959, the school currently enrolls 600 students and employs 125 faculty and staff who work together to fulfill the school’s mission.
The Middle School Division Head must be forward-thinking, dynamic, hard-working, creative, and disciplined, coupled with a warm, genuine affection for children and an understanding of the parents and teachers who nurture them. The best candidate will exhibit a clear commitment to academic excellence and life-long learning.
The ideal candidate will have strong peer leadership and communication skills, familiarity with school administrative systems, procedures, and practices, and a solid commitment to education and 21st-century learning principles. The candidate should have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and a willingness to innovate, collaborate, and challenge.
Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Middle School Division Head advises the Head of School on all matters pertaining to the division and is responsible for upholding the school’s mission, philosophy, policies, and standards. The Middle School Division Head serves as the division’s chief administrator while working together with a team of 22 dedicated faculty members serving 180 students. The Middle School Division Head is an integral, contributing member of the administrative team.
Candidates should have experience in middle school curriculum and instruction, teacher supervision, and proven leadership skills. A master's degree or higher is required.
