In 2019 we are expanding our Camp Director team. We are seeking a regional Camp Director (1) who will be responsible for the site coordination for a series (one and / or a combination of) of week-long day camps operating in New York (1) Connecticut (2) Massachusetts (2) and Rhode Island (1).
Our Camp Directors oversee the implementation of the academic program and daily camp operations. They liaise directly with site location personnel and oversee a team of program leaders, camp staff and interns. The Camp Director is ultimately responsible for the operation of a safe, inclusive and welcoming camp experience for all campers and camper parents.
The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, organizational, communication, problem solving skills. The successful candidate will have experience in teaching and learning strategies for youth aged 11 – 16. The position does not require the successful candidate to have a background in competitive debate.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Education and / or related professional certification as well as 1-3 years of classroom teaching experience. A background in summer camps, day and/or overnight is an asset.
This position requires the candidate to have or obtain CPR and First Aid training
About Debate Camp
Debate Camp has operated academic-enrichment summer camps in public speaking, debate and Model UN, across Canada since 2002. In 2018 we have 22 sessions, over 12 locations (9 in Canada and 4 in the Northeastern United States) The mission and philosophy of our program is:
Debate Camp aims to empower students with the skills of effective communication and teamwork through the avenues of debate and public speaking. The goal of our program is to create informed and articulate global citizens in a fun and exciting learning environment.
We believe that "camp" creates a novel and secure learning environment in which campers feel safe to try new skills, think on their feet, see the opposing view, and work well with others. We are an academic enrichment experience that sets itself up in some summer-friendly locations and aims to deliver a powerful week of learning that turns out to be fun as well.
CAMPS PROFILE: Debate Camp Canada operates 1 week day and 1 - 2 week (6 day / 6 night) overnight camps. Campers in grades 5 to 11, are streamed by ability, with novice, intermediate and competitive (Level Up) instruction at all camps. Camps range in size from a minimum of 30 campers to a maximum of 120 campers in a single week/location. Staff to camper ratio is 1:8
