The John Cooper School is seeking a full-time Lower School Science Teacher for Grades 3-4 starting in the 2019-20 school year. The teacher will inspire students to explore scientific concepts and principles through engaging and hands-on learning experiences. The ideal candidate will command a wide knowledge of elementary science education and cultivate deep curiosity among our young scientists. He/she will collaborate with the other two Lower School science teachers to create a cohesive curriculum across the division.
Lower School teachers report to the Lower School Head and work closely with the Assistant Lower School Head, faculty, support staff, and parents. Lower School teachers must be able to communicate and connect well with both children and adults. A sense of humor, a genuine love for children, and a positive approach to challenging situations are essential in this position.
Willingness to learn and grow as a professional and individual
Knowledge of current best practices in elementary science and STEM education
Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational and interpersonal skills
Strong commitment to students’ progress and success
Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience preferred
