Léman Manhattan Preparatory School seeks an Upper School Counselor for a maternity leave replacement. This position will The Upper School Counselor proactivelysupports the success of students academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally PreK-12 including supporting the Boarding program. This role is responsible for handling emotional problems – making referrals to external professionals as necessary and mediate any/all social conflicts. This position will collaborate with faculty, staff, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community for all students.

Development, management and delivery of a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the health, welfare, morale, and activities of his/her respective school division
Provides individual and group counseling services to meeting the development, preventive, and remedial needs of students.
Consults with students, parents, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the needs of students.
Maintain student records, including special education reports, confidential records, records of services provided, and behavioral data.
Interprets test results and other student data and assists teachers with the educational placement of students by using appropriate educational assessment strategies.
Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies for medical, vocational, or social services.
Attend workshops, seminars, and/or professional meetings in order to remain informed of new developments in school psychology.
Identify and address learning and behavior problems that interfere with school success
Evaluate eligibility for special education services (within a multidisciplinary team)
Promote school policies and practices that ensure the safety of all students by reducing school violence, bullying, and harassment.
Respond to crises by providing leadership, direct services, and coordination with needed community services.
Design, implement, and garner support for comprehensive school mental health programming.
Coordinate the delivery of services to students and their families in and outside of school.
Must be flexible and available to work occasional weekend events and evening functions, as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
