Garrison Forest School has an immediate opening for the James Center Program Assistant. This position reports to the Director of the James Center which duties include providing comprehensive program support to the James Center initiatives coordinated by the James Center, including the WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) program partnership with Johns Hopkins, and an array of service learning, public outreach, and financial literacy programs offered by Garrison Forest School students. This is a ten-month, 28 hours per week, part-time position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Basic office supports tasks
Reviewing and tracking WISE student journals and academic assignments
Researching and assisting with program development and implementation
Assisting with internal and external school communications
Driving WISE students to and from Johns Hopkins campuses
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, some administrative experience with demonstrated success, preferably in a school setting, as an employee and/or in a student leadership role. Some academic or experiential background in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) major or field, and/or interest in supporting STEM education for young women, is important. S/he is detail-oriented, energetic, creative, and has the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external constituencies while managing multiple projects simultaneously. S/he must have excellent verbal, interpersonal, organizational skills and a strong technology orientation. The ideal candidate will work with the Director to make this a meaningful aspect of her/his role. Candidates must be 21 years or older, provide a copy of their current driving record, and be able to pass a state/FBI background check. A commercial driver’s license is not required.
