TMI seeks an innovative, dynamic and collaborative instructor to promote curricular innovation in the creative sciences at the school. The position will incorporate elements of science, technology, engineering, arts and math, and contemporary and interdisciplinary learning. This faculty leader will teach self-motivated, creative students in middle and upper school, design and develop innovative and interdisciplinary curriculum, and form partnerships with external organizations.
A strong candidate will have experience in Design Thinking, applied engineering and robotics, makerspaces, experimental/experiential curriculum, computer science, and interdisciplinary program design.
The position will commence in August 2019.
Teaching five sections of innovation and design and/or computer science courses
Serving as an advisor to a small group of students
Fulfilling duties as assigned throughout the day
Contributing to the broader TMI community by participating in extracurricular activities to possibly include the athletic program, residential life program, and/or club programs
Bachelor's degree in science, technology, education, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
Three to five years teaching experience at the middle or upper school level, preferably in an independent school setting
Experience teaching in a project-based environment
Design thinking background or equivalent professional development
Interest in and experience with co-curricular coaching and advising assignments (Robotics, Computer Club)
Willingness to assist in the creation of school technology standards to reflect current topics and technologies
Interest in collaboration with instructors in other academic areas (mathematics, humanities, sciences, engineering)
