TMI Episcopal is seeking a full-time upper school English teacher. The position will commence in August 2019. A strong candidate will have 3-5 years of prior teaching experience in independent schools.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience teaching social studies curricula in an upper school setting. The candidate will have experience in a variety of modes of teaching and be highly skilled at differentiated instruction.
Teaching five sections of English literature
Serving as an advisor to a small group of students
Fulfilling duties as assigned throughout the day
Contributing to the broader TMI community by participating in extracurricular activities to possibly include the athletic program, residential life program, and/or club programs
Bachelor's degree in English or related field required; Master’s degree in English, teaching, or education preferred
Three to five years teaching experience at the upper school level, preferably in an independent school setting
Thorough content knowledge of world literature and the teaching of writing
Knowledge of diverse teaching strategies and ability to differentiate in the classroom
Excellent written and spoken communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle and prioritize multiple responsibilities
Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments
Salary to be determined based on experience and qualifications.
