The Langley School, a preschool through eighth grade coeducational day school in McLean, Virginia, seeks a collaborative, passionate, early childhood educator to support our Primary School (preschool through kindergarten) in the role of early childhood curricular and instructional specialist. We seek an educator who has extensive expertise in primary school curriculum and instruction, and who also has an appreciation of the unique social, emotional, and cognitive development that occurs during exploration and play. Working closely with the Primary School division head, the successful candidate will help to shape the division’s inquiry-based curriculum as well as to integrate essential early literacy and numeracy skills more deeply into our developmentally-appropriate curriculum. He or she will also work as a coach, supporting faculty in this division as they refine observational, instructional, and assessment practices.

Five years of successful primary school teaching experience (preschool and junior kindergarten preferred); bachelor’s degree in early childhood education required (master’s preferred); specific training in early literacy, mathematics, or special education preferred; demonstrated commitment to the cognitive, social, and emotional well-being of every child, every day; superior communication and organizational skills; and commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning and work environment.
