Sidwell Friends, a coeducational Quaker day school located in Washington, DC, seeks a 7th and 8th grade English teacher for its Middle School division, beginning in the 2019-2020 school year. The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher of English, specializing in writing, literature, and grammar. He/she will have a clear understanding of the needs of the age group, be able to work cooperatively with a group of adults in a team setting, be comfortable in and excited about working with children from diverse backgrounds, and actively support the Quaker philosophy that underlies the School.
Other duties include advising a group of 7th and 8th grade students; writing student reports; effective communication and collaboration with students, colleagues, and families; attendance at meetings; and collaboration with colleagues from other disciplines in the Middle School and other divisions.
