Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Head of Upper School. The role is responsible for the planning, design, vision, and implementation of the Grade 9 through Grade 12 program. This includes directing the scope and sequence of the curriculum, hiring of faculty, and the day-to-day operations of the Upper School.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Act as the educational leader of the division by maintaining congruency between the School’s mission statement and all activities of the Upper School division.
Serve as the chief articulator of the Upper School division programs, expectations, behavioral guidelines, and other information necessary to ensure that all are fully informed consonant with their individual roles.
Observe, supervise, and help evaluate the faculty through classroom observation.
Establish and maintain teacher evaluation schedule, and supervise curriculum review, in addition to monitoring scope and sequence in Upper School, and between Upper and Middle Schools.
Oversee and direct the activities of the Department Chairs and Upper School Deans.
Provide an orderly, controlled environment in which learning can take place in a climate that is supportive and reflects high morale.
Ensure that teachers are familiar with and adhere to school policies in all areas of the school’s operation.
Set and maintain calendar with Assistant Head of School, Academics. This includes scheduling all Upper School events in consultation with the main campus calendar.
Assist in the admission process of evaluating applicants for enrollment.
Be aware of the educational, physical, social, and psychological needs of the students and develop plans for meeting those needs.
Keep the Assistant Head of School, Academics informed of the general programs, activities and problems of the Upper School.
Organize workshops, conferences to keep current on curriculum.
Make recommendations to the Assistant Head of School, Academics regarding the hiring of Upper School faculty and administrative staff.
Help establish and monitor Upper School budget with the Assistant Head of School, Finance.
Maintain and establish relationships with local community organizations.
Partner with Advancement to engage families, faculty, and staff in fundraising opportunities.
Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in education or school administration preferred.
Experience: minimum of 7 years’ experience as a lead teacher along with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as an administrative leader.
Specific Skills: Proven success working collaboratively in educational leadership, written and oral communication skills, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills required.
