Rochambeau, The French International School of Washington, DC (“Rochambeau”) is home to over 1,100 students from pre-K through 12th grade and is a community representing over 70 nationalities. As a non-profit corporation licensed by the state of Maryland, in close proximity to Washington, DC, Rochambeau is accredited by the French Ministry of Education and operates as part of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) global network of schools. Additionally, the school is in the final phases of accreditation by the Association of Independent Schools of Maryland and DC (AIMS) and has initiated the process of accreditation with the International Baccalaureate program in order to offer an IB program in the future. The school’s rigorous and comprehensive curriculum prepares students to earn a U.S. high school diploma and for the French baccalaureate examination, ultimately qualifying students for admission to institutions of higher education in the United States, in France, and abroad.
Rochambeau strives to guide its students to become confident, caring, and open-minded critical thinking who will thrive as true citizens of the world. Rochambeau’s enrollment has grown by over 15% during the last five years. Rochambeau plans to open a new campus by 2021, which shall enable the development of new academic and extracurricular programs as well as further supporting increasing enrollment demands.
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE
The Executive Director of the School leads Rochambeau’s management team comprised of local hires as well as expatriates from the French educational system, ensuring high standards of academic excellence across all educational programs. Inspiring a community of life-long learners, the Executive Director is leading and managing the entire organization including faculty, staff and administration. The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the growth and financial sustainability of the organization; building, fostering and managing relationships with the community and alumni to successfully manage the school and grow enrollment; and, supporting Rochambeau’s vision, core values and strategic aims.
The Executive Director of the School is an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board of Trustees to whom s/he reports, with significant interaction with the Board Chair.
