The Pingry School seeks a dynamic and intellectually engaging Coordinator of Global Education and Engagement to join a diverse academic community for the 2019-2020 school year.
The ideal candidate is committed to equipping students to be global citizens and leaders who engage with the world rather than seek sanctuary from it.
This educator is a collaborator who promotes meaningful opportunities to explore complex global issues, a person who challenges students and faculty to see the world from others’ perspectives through relevant curriculum and curricular opportunities that bring the world into the classroom.
Propelled by consistently high standards, the candidate of choice seeks growth and learning every day, both personally and professionally, and inspires others to do the same through optimism, selflessness, flexibility, and teamwork.
With robust interpersonal skills, the selected candidate has a real desire to contribute to the school community by sharing their passions for the world community and through additional efforts such as advising students, coaching teams, directing clubs, or supervising activities.
Responsible for teaching two classes, the Coordinator of Global Education and Engagement will hold a faculty appointment in at least one department.
Required qualifications include:
knowledge of current global contexts (current and past challenges facing particular societies, cultures, and the natural world) and risk management
appreciation for global self-awareness, global systems, and cultural diversity
experience developing, implementing, managing, and overseeing short-term learning abroad programs
strong background in real-life problem-solving and place-based methodologies
ability to facilitate independent and cooperative group learning experiences on campus and abroad
dedication to personal and social responsibility within an ethical framework
understanding of cross- and multi-disciplinary approaches, and
commitment to work cooperatively with administrators, faculty, students, families, and global partners in order to maintain a strong program.
In addition to honor and character, commitment to intellectual engagement, and appreciation for stewardship and sustainability, especially important is the candidate’s ease with diverse constituencies and discernible commitment to an inclusive school community.
