The New Community School empowers bright, talented students in grades 5-12, who are challenged by dyslexia and related language-based learning differences. The innovative and research-based college preparatory curriculum utilizes a customized educational approach to build skills in language and math and to foster academic and personal strengths and igniting the passions and gifts of unique minds.
The New Community School is currently hiring a Director of Teaching, Learning and Research for the 2019-2020 school year.
Twelve-month leadership team level position (full benefits, three weeks of vacation in addition to school holidays/breaks as able)
Serve on Senior Leadership Team
Lead the implementation of our comprehensive program, designed to produce our future graduate
Lead curriculum development
Lead assessment and reporting initiatives
Lead department chairs
Serve as our lead school liaison with the Mastery Transcript Consortium
Leading our faculty on the path towards mastery learning, project-based learning and student driven learning
Work with team on design of the ideal schedule to allow our students to have real world experiences
Serve as our lead researcher in the fields of dyslexia and related learning differences, as well as, brain-based teaching and cutting-edge technology and practices that will impact our students and school
Collaborate with our peer research schools and researchers
Form partnerships for projects, dual enrollment, etc.
Teach two periods a day
Coach as interested and available
Supervise team of student support staff
Budgetary oversight for areas of responsibility
Requirements: The ideal candidate must possess:
M.Ed. or higher degree in school leadership
Five+ years experience in school administration, leadership
Experience/knowledge of dyslexia and related learning differences
Previous experience in curriculum design for a future focused program
