Devon Preparatory School a catholic, college preparatory school for young men in grades six to twelve, is seeking full-time long-term substitute science teacher for the 2nd semester of the current school year (January 2019 - June 2019).
Devon Prep’s approach to education is based on the traditions of the Piarist Fathers who are dedicated to the holistic education of youth. It is the goal at Devon Prep to inspire in our students a commitment to values that will enable them to become responsible leaders.
It is expected the successful candidate would:
Proficiency teaching college-prep chemistry and forensics to high school students
Provide hands-on, inquiry- and lab-based activities to foster students’ scientific skills
Make science meaningful and relevant to students’ everyday life and future careers
Provide student-centered and differentiated instruction
Communicate with students and parents as necessary
Serve as an academic advisor to a group of five or six students
In addition, a candidate should possess the following professional qualifications and personal qualities:
Minimum B.S. in biology and/or chemistry
Certification in science is preferred
A sense of humor, warmth of personality, and energy
