Summary: Pacific Ridge School seeks candidates for the position of Assistant Coach of Coed Track and Field. This appointment will be effective February 9, 2019. In support of Pacific Ridge’s mission, the Assistant Coach of Coed Track and Field will coach, lead, and champion the boys’ and girls’ upper school track and field programs in the spring. Pacific Ridge is a competitive program in the Coastal League in the San Diego Section. We are a “no-cut” school; although student-athletes are cut from teams, they are never cut from programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Lead and coach upper school track and field program (spring season) • Have seasonal goals split into macro-cycles while also communicating weekly plans with the head coach • Teach athletes the skills, techniques, rules, regulations, and ensure compliance of rules and regulations • Plan, direct, and administer policies, practices and game-day management (including dress code) • Lead and manage outreach efforts to attract and retain talent • Be responsible for the general health and welfare of student-athletes and give appropriate attention to students-athletes who are injured and or ill. This includes filling out injury report forms • Cooperate with the school Nurse and Athletic Trainer to ensure student-athletes receive proper medical and physical training services • Ensure appropriate safety measures are observed when conducting team activities • Be responsible for the actions and conduct of the team whenever they are under your supervision • Work with the Director of Athletics on the selection and scheduling of team contests • Work within budgetary guidelines established by the Finance department and the Director of Athletics • Coordinate all activities in preparation for scheduled competition • Attend all team practices and home and away contests • Monitor student-athlete academic performance • Practice the principles of being a Double-Goal Coach with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) • Attend appropriate athletic departmental staff meetings • Assist the Director of Athletics in any activities and school events as needed
Qualifications, include, but are not limited to: • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred • 2+ years of relative coaching experience • Collegiate level athlete or higher preferred
Preferred Skills • We seek candidates who takes initiative and responsibility for developing, nurturing, and growing our track and field programs • We seek candidates who are extremely organized and can multi-task and prioritize assignments • We seek candidates who can communicate effectively with all school constituents and who display strong, positive interpersonal skills • Successful candidates will be prepared to work on a high performing team, and have demonstrated the ability to maintain a positive attitude in all situations
General Work Schedule: Monday- Friday 3:00–6:30 PM (meets will end later than 5:30 during the week and some will take place on Saturdays).
