St. Christopher’s School, the largest all-boys school in Virginia and one of the largest and oldest boys’ schools in the Mid-Atlantic region, seeks a Director of Community and Inclusion. St. Christopher’s School seeks a creative and innovative educational leader to coordinate the efforts of the faculty and staff to enhance the inclusive and welcoming nature of the school community and to foster a greater understanding and appreciation of diversity at the school and the surrounding Greater Richmond community. The Director of Community & Inclusion is a member of St. Christopher’s Administrative Team, which works with the Head of School to determine strategy and implement key initiatives.
Qualifications & Key Skills:
Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree
Diversity and inclusion leadership experience and related professional background within a school setting preferred
Demonstrates sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse backgrounds of community members with a focus on relationship building
Commits to lifelong learning with personal and professional integrity and the capacity to serve as a model of openness and acceptance
Able and willing to initiate and foster broad-based community outreach
Effectively leads people and programs and works in a collaborative environment
Able to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously and frequently changing priorities
Innovative, strategic thinker with strong interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and technologically savvy
Coordinate diversity, inclusion, and cultural literacy professional development and curriculum review for faculty, staff, and administration
Serve as the School’s primary point of contact with community leaders, members of the corporate community, and non-profit organizations
Serve as an active member of the School’s Admissions Office, routinely participating in meetings, planning sessions, school visits, tours, outreach, school fairs and visits, and other admissions activities
Work with students across divisions, with potential opportunities for teaching, advising, and coaching
Serve as co-director of the School’s new Chamberlayne Achievement Program (CAP), a support and mentoring program for students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds
Support faculty/staff recruitment efforts to diversify faculty and staff
Create and lead cross-divisional faculty/staff Community & Inclusion Advising Committee
Develop and strengthen relationships with members of our alumni and parent communities
Maintain visibility in the community—routine attendance at major School events (arts, athletics, Parents Association, alumni, fundraising, etc.)
Serve as primary staff contact with Board of Governors Community & Inclusion Committee
Serve as the School’s liaison with the Virginia Diversity Network and Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities to coordinate opportunities for professional development and student programming
