St. Francis Episcopal School has partnered with Southern Teachers to help find its next Head of Middle School. St. Francis offers rigorous academics, thoughtful religious instruction, a variety of superb fine arts programs, advanced technological instruction, competitive athletics, outdoor education, and compassionate service programs. St. Francis fosters a culture in which young people of all ages develop the lifelong character traits that are essential to a strong community, such as integrity, honesty, kindness, and respect for others. The school’s cornerstones are faith, dignity, courage, and scholarship.
Two campuses in Houston’s Memorial area house students in pre-primary through grade nine, with an additional grade opening each fall. By 2021, St. Francis will serve students through grade twelve. Wooded grounds feature meticulously groomed playing fields, a state-of-the-art fine arts center that seats 600, new athletics and fitness centers, a certified Nature Explore outdoor classroom, a gymnasium and covered outdoor activities center, and two libraries totaling more than 7,000 square feet.
The next Head of Middle School will be a dynamic educator with demonstrated skills leading a student-centered, project-based learning environment that aligns curriculum across grades and divisions. He or she will be charged with the comprehensive responsibility of all non-curricular, religious, and life skills activities involving students and faculty of the Middle School.
The Head of Middle School also oversees the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and evaluation of all Middle School instructional and support faculty. Collaboration and the ability to relate effectively with Trustees, other administrators, teachers, operations staff, parents, and students is essential.
