Randolph School is seeking a talented and enthusiastic performing arts/theater teacher for the Upper School (grades 9-12) beginning August 2019. Responsibilities will include teaching courses in dramatic arts and stagecraft and planning, designing, and directing theater productions.
Candidates should bring experience teaching drama/ directing theater with school-aged students and should demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills with students, colleagues, and the parent community. This teacher will participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the school community in a manner that supports and promotes the Randolph School Mission.
Major Responsibilities and Duties: • Teaching of Performing Arts and Drama, including planning and preparing courses and lessons; and assessing, recording and reporting on progress. • Using a variety of teaching methods such as play readings, demonstrations, role-play, performances and discussions. • Producing plays, recordings, and videos. • Organizing and directing drama activities and encouraging self-expression in students. • Preparing students for public assessments and participation in local, state, and national theater competitions • Working knowledge of basic set design, lighting design, sound design and scene shop procedures • Advising a group of 10-12 students. • Participating in departmental meetings. Working as a member of a team in the shaping of departmental policy and practice. • Keeping up to date with curriculum innovation.
Educational requirements include a minimum requirement of an undergraduate degree in theater or dramatic arts (acting, drama, or BFA in performance, technical theater or stage management) or theater education, along with experience performing and directing plays. Expertise in other performing arts fields (choral, dance, etc.) and experience in professional theater will be given additional consideration.
