Greens Farms Academy seeks applicants for a Middle (5-8) or Upper School (9-12) Learning Specialist position. For both positions, responsibilities include: meeting regularly one-on-one or in small groups to support students with a variety of learning styles; making recommendations to families about additional support (e.g. testing, tutoring, or outside professional support); reviewing and processing psycho-educational testing; maintaining the list of students with school-approved accommodations and sharing with faculty; working closely with teachers to determine student needs and offer advice about ways teachers can best support students; leading professional development for faculty around learning differences, strategies, and trends; offering guidance to all students about learning strategies and study skills; partnering with the administration on relevant policy areas; thinking strategically about tutoring policies and practices; collaborating with the school’s student-staffed Writing Center and Math Center; and offering education and resources to the broader parent community. The Middle School Learning Specialist will oversee in-house standardized assessments (e.g. ERBs) in that division, while the Upper School Learning Specialist will also submit and support applications for standardized-testing accommodations. Depending on the needs of the school and interest of the candidate, there may be opportunities for teaching, coaching, advising, chaperoning, club leadership, and other activities.
The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree in learning disabilities or a related field, at least three years experience in a similar position, and a passion for supporting middle and high-school aged children. For all positions, we look for candidates who enjoy working with colleagues in a collaborative environment, who are flexible, creative, and organized, who embrace lifelong learning, who will engage fully in the life of the school, and who are committed to fostering an inclusive community.
