The Abraham Joshua Heschel School seeks to hire a Director of Community and Strategic Engagement who will lead Heschel’s development, community outreach, and strategic planning initiatives. This is a great opportunity for a creative and dynamic professional with expertise in both development and Jewish education, as well as strong relationship-building and institution-building skills, to grow the reach and impact of the Heschel School’s unique mission.
The Director of Community and Strategic Engagement will report to the Head of School, sit on the school’s senior administrative team, work closely with Heschel’s professional and lay leaders, and supervise the development and communications teams. Responsibilities will include:
Developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies that include prospecting, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective and current donors including parents, grandparents, alumni, alumni parents, community friends, and foundations
Leading strategic planning initiatives by engaging professionals, members of the Board of Trustees, and strategic partners around questions of how to grow the impact of Heschel’s mission in the future now that the school’s expansion (in terms of physical plant and student enrollment) is complete
Partnering with Heschel’s professional staff to assess our areas of greatest educational strength and strategize our short-term and long-term opportunities for growth and leadership within the field
Working with the Head of School and Board of Trustees to ensure alignment among future plans for development of Heschel’s educational program, strategies for fundraising, and budgetary planning
