Hutchison seeks a dynamic Upper School Head who will live and embody the school’s mission of developing girls in mind, body, and spirit. As a member of the school’s Leadership Team, the Upper School Head partners with parents and leads teachers as they strive to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of the girls. The Upper School Head supervises all aspects of the program with the support of a division coordinator, an Assistant Upper School Head, an Upper School Counselor, a Learning Specialist, a College Counseling Director, and staff and faculty, including six department chairs and four grade-level leads.
A strong candidate for the position of Upper School Head will possess:
Knowledge of best instructional practices and trends in education;
An approachable, warm, and joyful demeanor;
Visionary leadership with a drive for excellence in all areas;
Excellent communication skills;
Experience in the classroom, preferably at the high school level; • A commitment to maintaining a supportive school culture with high student and faculty investment;
Creative problem-solving skills;
An understanding of the value of equity, inclusion, and service in all aspects of learning and school operations;
The ability to collaborate, listen, and empower while making decisions; • A commitment to girls’ education and the development of girls;
A master’s or doctoral degree.
