Annie Wright is seeking a Lower School Learning Specialist to begin on August 19, 2019. This is a full time faculty position.

Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
The Lower School Learning Specialist strives to meet the individual needs of students and encourages each student to reach her or his personal best and to cultivate age-appropriate self-management skills that lead to independent and community-minded thinking. To do this, the LS Learning Specialist:
provides direct support to individual students requiring accommodations, remediation and extension by pushing into classrooms or pulling students out for individual or small group support;
coaches and supports faculty to develop strategies to implement accommodations and support students;
maintains communication with families about students’ needs and progress and provides parent support as needed;
implements and supports literacy programs throughout the Lower School, including differentiated reading groups, using relevant resources;
works as part of the Lower School Student Action Team to identify, strategize on, and support students’ needs;
provides training on best practices in differentiation and learning support to faculty;
writes Individual Accommodation Plans and maintains support plan files for students with documented/demonstrated learning differences;
regularly administers and interprets assessments for all Lower School students to monitor the development of skills, track student progress, and plan effective instruction;
and fulfills other duties as assigned.
The LS Learning Specialist:
Holds a BA in Education or a related field;
Has experience working with Lower School (Preschool-Grade 5) as a classroom teacher or learning specialist;
Demonstrates familiarity with current research and best practices in learning, differentiation, and teaching; flexibility; proficiency in using technology as a learning support tool; an understanding of and enthusiasm to work with and care for Lower School students; and the desire to collaborate as part of a team.
