Oregon Episcopal School seeks a skilled, professional, and culturally competent individual to teach science in its Upper School. The science teacher will teach four sections of student-centered classes designed to develop creative, analytical thinkers, researchers, and problem solvers who have a deep understanding of and appreciation for science. The teacher must have a strong educational background and teaching experience in science in addition to an ability to understand and model the importance of involvement in the community. US teachers are expected to engage in ongoing professional development, authentic collaboration with other faculty and staff, and to understand inquiry-based pedagogy. Other full-time faculty responsibilities include being an adviser and occasional chaperoning duties. The successful candidate will have experience and confidence in using technology for classroom organization and curricular enhancement, a demonstrated history of innovative pedagogies and collegial engagement with professional peers, and will possess the ability to support the OES educational mission. This position reports directly to the US division head. Coaching opportunities may be available.

Facilitate dynamic, engaging, and effective learning experiences for Upper School students, and evaluate course materials and develop new curricula as needed.
Integrate technology in teaching and assessment.
Manage the classroom environment so that all students can learn safely.
Evaluate and return student work and evaluation reports in a timely manner.
Collaborate effectively with faculty.
Communicate with students and parents in a clear, timely, and professional manner.
Advise a group of Upper School students.
Attend Division meetings, Grade-level Team meetings, and Science Department meetings, and parent conferences.
Chaperone and fulfill school duties as assigned, including overnight trips.
Be committed to ongoing professional growth and development.
Serve as a role model for Upper School students.
BA/BS or equivalent in science or related field
Three years of experience teaching science
Intercultural competence, ability to interact appropriately with a diverse array of students, coworkers, family members; ability to teach diverse groups of students effectively and to personalize instruction
IT skills: general digital literacy, intermediate to advanced MS Office Suite, database skills, web applications including Google Suite, Zoom or Skype, etc. as appropriate to job duties
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
MA/MS or equivalent in science or related field
Experience teaching science to high school aged students
Experience with inquiry-based teaching and project-based learning
Experience using digital teaching tools
Successful history with innovation in the teaching of science, technology integration, and project- based learning
Experience undertaking scientific research in a collaborative academic setting, especially where candidate guided others in the endeavor
Appreciation for and experience with integrating science instruction with other disciplines

Ability to develop curriculum with consideration of scope and sequence

Knowledge of educational technology; openness to innovation, willingness to learn and adapt as digital tools evolve, ability to integrate evolving IT into curriculum
Primarily classroom environment, ability to sit at a computer and keyboard for moderate periods
Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis
Ability to see, hear and speak clearly to interact with groups of individuals
Ability to move about the OES campus
