Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Guide students and families as they move through the college research, application and selection process
Write letters of recommendation
Advise students about course selection
Review students’ college application materials
Maintain regular contact with students and parents throughout the process
Develop and maintain professional relationships with college admission representatives
Keep current on college admission and financial aid standards and trends
Assist Director in organizing and facilitating workshops for students, parents, and faculty to understand further their roles in the admission process.
Coordinate standardize test processes
Attend professional conferences including NACAC, ACCIS, and College Board
Attend admission open houses, interview applicants and parents, read and evaluate prospective student applications annually
Additional administrative responsibilities in the upper school, to be determined based on skills and experience
Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience in college counseling and/or admission required.
Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, College Kickstart and Naviance
Excellent oral and written communication skills; detail oriented approach to work; a kind, firm, empathetic demeanor; a collaborative, flexible nature; and a demonstrated comfort with and commitment to issues of multiculturalism
Energy, patience, and a sense of humor are a must
