Wellington is seeking such a candidate for the role of associate director of college counseling. The College Counseling group currently includes a director of college counseling and a full time college counselor. The college counseling program begins during the freshman year.
Ideally the start date for the associate will be before the end of the 2018-2019 school year. However, we realize it may be later due to the circumstances of the selected candidate. In any case, this full time, ten-month position will be in place for the 2019-2020 academic year.
Educates and supports students and families in the college process
Coordinates with faculty who work with athletes, fine and performing artists, international students
Functions as department expert in financial aid and financing college
Oversees initiatives with alumni and Alumni Relations
Manages and updates data technologies
Informs others about best practices, current trends, and various resources and research in the field
Serves as college counseling liaison with upper school deans and advisors
Drafts letters of recommendation and provides feedback on application materials
Attends various events and performances to augment knowledge of students and school
Interacts effectively with college admissions colleagues locally and from around the world
Participates in professional associations and gatherings
Contributes to publications and to other college counseling communications
Continues to enhance the college counseling program in the face of changing times
Extensive experience in college counseling in independent schools preferred
Familiarity and expertise with technology
Exceptional digital, writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Strong organizational practices
Sense of humor, positive manner and outlook, energy and passion for the job
