Rippowam Cisqua School seeks an experienced and talented individual to serve as Athletic Director. The Athletic Director will serve an integral role in the implementation of a student-centered, appropriately competitive interscholastic athletics program for Grades 5-9.The Athletic Director will report directly to the Head of Upper Campus.
Rippowam Cisqua School currently offers twelve interscholastic sports options to students in middle school, and three seasons of participation is required for all students. The School is entering a period of evaluation for its athletics program and the Athletic Director will have a significant voice in shaping the future of athletics, physical education, and health at Rippowam Cisqua School.
The ideal candidate will:
Schedule and prepare the annual calendar of athletic practices and interscholastic games for Grades 5-9.
Supervise the Assistant Athletic Director and coaches for all middle school teams; create a positive professional environment for all engaged with athletics at the School.
Maintain a detailed financial budget for the entire athletics program and work with the Head of Upper Campus on long-range planning for capital expenses.
Possess a strong ability to communicate with multiple constituencies, both in writing and in speech, and have comfort working in a collaborative setting. The Athletic Director will promote the positive role athletics plays in the development of children.
Have a detailed understanding of legal and medical requirements associated with middle school athletics.
Have an appreciation for the overall wellness of children and an interest in supporting all facets of school life. Maintain an active partnership with the School’s Wellness Committee.
Appreciate the uniqueness and value of an independent school education.
Possess a warm, collaborative, and generous spirit and have a predisposition to laughter, fun, and collegiality.
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, although a master’s degree or higher is preferred. Rippowam Cisqua School is very interested in meeting candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, especially those from groups historically underrepresented in independent schools.
Compensation is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.
