GRAMMAR SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION / SWIM TEACHER:
Leave replacement dates are from March 8 to June 7, 2019. CGPS is looking for a highly qualified Physical Education teacher with experience teaching swim. Candidate must have a degree in Physical Education (or related field) as well as experience teaching at the elementary level. Physical Education classes will be taught individually while swim classes are co-taught.
Teachers hold primary responsibility for the implementation and development of the CGPS PE & Swim curriculum and the assessment of student progress. The Grammar School PE & Swim Teacher is committed to continuously improving curriculum and instruction through collaboration as part of a content area team.
Create unit and lesson plans that reflect sequential learning with differentiated activities based on students’ knowledge and skills
Use department guidelines to evaluate students and write report cards
Collaborate positively and respectfully with members of the Physical Education Department, other colleagues, school administrators, and parents
Maintain a gymnasium and pool/locker room environment that is safe and organized
7:45am to 3:00pm Monday through Friday

A degree in Physical Education or related field
First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certification (required)
Lifeguard Certification and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) (preferred)
Belief in and alignment with Columbia Grammar’s core beliefs and educational philosophy
Proven track-record of high achievement in the classroom
Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player
Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred
Responsive Classroom Training is a plus, willingness to take the course is necessary
Minimum of two years teaching experience
Valid State Certification is helpful but not required
Experienced in teaching a wide range of ages (from Pre-K through Fourth Grade)
