The Walker School is a nonsectarian, co-educational independent day school serving three year olds through twelfth grade students in Marietta, Georgia. The school was founded in 1957 and currently enrolls approximately 900 students. The Primary School Administrative Assistant reports directly to the Primary School Head. His/her primary role is to provide administrative support to the Primary School Head, teachers, and the parent community. Ideal candidates demonstrate reliability, resourcefulness, and empathy when working with both staff and students while embodying the school’s mission and philosophy. The Administrative Assistant focuses on maintaining meaningful connections and community life while welcoming and greeting all visitors; often being the first and last person families see when visiting the building.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Knowledge and understanding of Primary School activities, established school policies, the Admission process, and Bright From The Start rules/regulations
Support safety standards prescribed by the school
Maintain detailed and orderly records including student enrollment, student attendance, new family information, faculty/staff absences, and Bright From The Start requirements
Maintain Clinic Log and parent medical consent forms; dispense medications accordingly
Manage calendars and events for the Primary School and for the Head. Assist with event organization and collaborate with other Administrative Assistants
Maintain and track all Primary School purchases and budgets
Work closely with Walker Parent Organizations including recruiting room parent volunteers and assisting WSA ambassadors
Coordinate with Extended Day Program director to create camp links, calendar, and After School Activity brochure
Bachelor’s Degree required
Excellent verbal, listening, and written communication skills
Proficient in Word/Excel/Google Doc
Demonstrate leadership highlighted by the ability to problem solve and work in collaborative partnerships across all constituent groups.
