Job Title: Assistant Director of Finance Reports to: Director of Finance Full-time | 12-month position
Position Summary: The Business Office at St. George’s Episcopal School is responsible for providing timely and accurate financial information to the school’s administration and stakeholders. The Assistant Director of Finance will work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure integrity of the accounting processes, systems and internal control structure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform general accounting functions including processing accounts payable and accounts receivable
Accounts Payable responsibilities include:
Preparing invoices for payment, matching back-up documentation (receipts and packing slips) to invoice
Keeping vendor records up to date in the accounting system, ensuring proper documentation is on file for new vendors such as W-9 and COI if applicable
Ensuring invoices are entered per GL coding to the correct accounts in ledger
Cutting of checks and distribution to payees
Maintaining orderly financial records post transaction, filling check vouchers/disbursements and ensuring physical vendor files are well maintained
Accounts Receivable responsibilities include:
Preparing tuition and incidental billing in FACTS tuition management system and Active Network
Assisting parents with tuition or payment questions
Applying in-house customer payments to accounts as needed
Processing deposits and making trips to bank as needed
Assisting in monitoring AR aging and communicating delinquent account holders
Assist in month end close out process, account reconciliations and analysis
Perform general human resource functions including onboarding, recordkeeping, benefits administration and payroll
Entering new employees into appropriate background check system, following up with Administration on clearance
Creating and maintaining payroll personnel files, ensuring all documentation is collected in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and updated as necessary
Ensuring personnel data is entered correctly into pay system
Processing non-exempt payroll
Assisting with annual benefits open enrollment
Assisting with benefit account reconciliations
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure successful operations of the Business Office.

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field, experience in a professional accounting environment
High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
High proficiency in Google Applications
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
Strong attention to detail; ability to organize, maintain and analyze data
Knowledge or experience with general ledger and accounting software
Knowledge or experience with payroll and/ or benefits administration
Ability to work independently but also as a member of a team
Ability to adopt new technologies with flexibility, current systems include FACTS tuition management, ACTIVE network, Netchex and QuickBooks Desktop
