Childpeace Montessori School in Portland, Oregon serves 350 children ages 15 months to 15 years. We have an exceptional and experienced teaching staff, a strong Board of Trustees, financial health, a diverse and supportive parent body, and a long lineage of successful alumni.

 

We are looking for a new Head of School to lead and develop our school. The successful candidate is an experienced Montessori professional (10+ years), a proven leader, adept at running a nonprofit organization, and has a passion for Montessori education.

 

The HoS has full responsibility for the implementation of our mission as a quality Montessori educational institution, strategic initiatives, and all day-to-day operations. The right candidate will have experience as a solid decision maker with excellent judgement, an interest in growing and evolving as a leader, and someone who embodies leadership via Montessori principles.

Responsibilities

Guides & Staff

  • Manage Guides and Program Directors, Assistant Head of School for Operations, and Communications Coordinator.
  • Foster an atmosphere of team building and inclusiveness.

Program

  • Own and evolve the pedagogy. Embrace Montessori education and drive inclusiveness for all.
  • Empower and support the Program Directors and Guides to deliver excellence in education.
  • Oversee a student body of ~350 children across various programs ranging from toddlers to Middle School.

Parents

  • Support an inclusive and respectful partnership between parents and school on behalf of the child.
  • Create ways for parents to stay informed, educated, and active in the Childpeace community.

Community

  • Oversee effective marketing, communications, and outreach to our community.
  • Serve as public spokesperson for the school and for Montessori education.

Finances

  • Work with the finance team to produce an annual budget proposal and regular financial reports for the Board of Trustees.
  • Ensure development and fundraising goals are met.

Board of Trustees

  • Implement the strategic plan as established by the Board of Trustees. Partner with the Board in thinking big and creating ways to get things done.
  • Empower the Board of Trustees to make good decisions by providing data, insight, and context for school operations.

NOTES:
Employer will assist with relocation costs.
