As a faculty member, all teachers lead as positive educators and role models for the School community of students, parents, alumni, trustees and colleagues. Faculty member’s general duties involve teaching 4 classes, coaching two sports or the equivalent, advising students, leading an activity, serving on a committee, providing extra help to students and attending school events and school year faculty orientation. The typical student load is 55-65 students.
Summary of the History Chair Position:
The candidate must have a strong background as a History/Humanities teacher with extensive experience teaching 21st Century Skills. They must possess excellent leadership skills and be able to lead a department of high performing educators as they embrace and employ current pedagogies. The candidate should be able to teach a range of History courses including the most rigorous courses offered at the school; possess positive interpersonal skills, enjoy working with high school students, and have the energy and interest to contribute to the school community in a variety of areas.
Qualified candidates should have:
success teaching all levels of secondary History and a demonstrated strength with high level high school students
an ability to support faculty as they adopt 21st Century teaching content and pedagogy
experience working with colleagues to develop curriculum and program
experience using technology in the classroom
a growth mindset that allows them to take on new challenges
