This master educator will bring energy and passion for stewarding the Keim Center Innovation Lab, coordinating Upper School STEM+ initiatives, and teaching Upper School STEM+ elective courses.
NOTE: The overarching objective for the Innovation Lab in the Keim Center for Innovation and Research is the creation of a vibrant, flexible, student-centered, and collaborative space that enables forward-thinking curricular initiatives at Ravenscroft.
Further the Development of Upper School STEM+ Initiatives
Create a positive, inspiring, student-centered learning environment that encourages inquiry, productive failure, and risk-taking
Develop and help implement curriculum for current and future Upper School STEM+ electives
Serve as a divisional liaison for faculty, supporting the incorporation of STEM+, maker education, and design thinking in their curricula
Contribute to institutional STEM+ vision-casting and strategy
Engage in ongoing professional development by attending relevant conferences, staying current on STEM+ educational literature, and maintaining an active professional network of colleagues
Foster mutually beneficial relationships between students and members of the larger community, including university and business contacts in STEM+ fields
Steward of the Keim Center Innovation Lab
Act as steward and ambassador of the new Keim Center Innovation Lab, helping members of our community find ways to creatively utilize the space
Develop safety protocols for the use of equipment; including the development of a training/badge program for student leaders
Stay abreast of ever-changing STEM+ related technology (hardware and software) so that curriculum supported by the lab remains fresh and cutting edge
Coordinate regular maintenance of tools, equipment, and machinery in the lab
Manage the budget of the lab and coordinate all necessary purchasing
Teach Upper School STEM+ Elective Courses
Teach a reduced load of innovative STEM+ elective courses
Coach the Upper School robotics team
Be available, as needed, to tutor/coach students in groups or as individuals
