Beaver Country Day School, grades 6-12, in Chestnut Hill, MA, seeks a dynamic Middle School Science Teacher. Primary responsibilities include teaching 4 science courses. One section of Science 6: The Science of Place and 3 sections of Science 7: The Science of Self. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor and involvement in student life.
Beaver puts an emphasis on project-based learning through a collaborative, inquiry- based approach, where open-ended experimentation and design play a significant role in the science classroom. Competitive candidates will demonstrate content expertise, knowledge in differentiated instruction and assessment, willingness and ability to collaborate and implement innovative pedagogical initiatives, including technology, that focus on a student-first, hands-on, experiential learning. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and management skills are essential to the role, as is a willingness to participate fully in the community beyond the classroom.
This position is for the start of the 2019-2020 school year through Thanksgiving Break. Additionally, candidates will be expected to attend all August opening of school meetings and be in touch with department head throughout the summer.
