The Episcopal School of Jacksonville is seeking applications for a full-time Middle School teacher in the Mathematics Department, beginning in August 2019. A faculty member in the Middle School should feel comfortable teaching any level of mathematics from Pre-Algebra to Algebra 2, including Geometry. Special attention will be given to those candidates who have experience or specific training in teaching middle school students and who can create age-appropriate classroom experiences which are learner-centered. Each Middle School faculty member is assigned a small group of students for academic advising. Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, coaching an athletic team, supervising community service, or sponsoring a club.
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of study (i.e., Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or field heavily dependent on applied mathematics) from a four-year college or university or post-graduate work in subject matter; advanced degree preferred
Teaching experience preferred.
Candidates should have experience and be able to teach all levels of middle school mathematics, including data analysis and interpretation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrate classroom management skills with a focus on student-centered learning.
Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of the Texas Instruments Graphing Calculator series.
Demonstrate an ability to work cooperatively with faculty, students, and parents.
