Heronfield Academy, an independent middle school on the New Hampshire Seacoast, is seeking a part-time teacher to design and teach innovative, integrated courses in technology, engineering, and art. We seek a dynamic educator, one who truly enjoys working with talented adolescents, to develop introductory courses for the 7th and 8th grades focused on the skills of drawing, sculpture, architectural modeling, digital photography, robotics, animation, film, and coding. Candidates need not be expert in all of these fields so much as interested in guiding student exploration in a series of projects that allow them to develop a strong kinesthetic sense, practice in design thinking, and promote an understanding of how the arts allow them to explore and invent the world around them. Heronfield’s unique culture, a small 90-student stand-alone middle school set on a beautiful farm, makes it an ideal setting for bright and curious 6th, 7th, and 8th graders and their teachers. Our faculty works together to advise students, coach them on teams, and develop activities that promote their social and emotional growth. Close to Exeter and Phillips Exeter Academy, New Hampshire’s beaches, and Portsmouth, Heronfield is a joyous place and a supportive teaching community. Interested applicants should send a current resume, statement of philosophy, and a list of 3 references to Betsy Kelly, Head of School: firstname.lastname@example.org.
