You are a skilled and experienced teacher of mathematics, and you are able to transfer your knowledge and passion to a diverse class of students (grades 8 - 12). You are confident in curriculum development and demonstrate an approach to teaching that is reflective of the way in which girls learn. You optimize the resources available to you. You support all learners with diverse strategies and approaches and bring innovative solutions to learning challenges experienced by students. Your classes are student-centered and dynamic. You understand the importance of parents as partners in their daughter’s education by maintaining open and collaborative relationships with the parent community. Employment and Application Details:
This is a one-year contract, covering a teacher’s leave of absence.
Classes begin in September 2019 following teacher orientation in late August 2018.

Responsibilities of a Teacher at Crofton House School:
Bring a student-centered, inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. mathematics curriculum
Learn and teach collaboratively with teachers in the department and across the Senior School to plan, develop, implement an extraordinary learning experience for each individual student.
Build relationships with teachers and staff across the school community
Participate in school meetings and events, including school planning and professional development
Participate actively in the co-curricular program
Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience:
Relevant university qualifications preferably at the graduate level (e.g. Bachelor of Education plus Bachelor of Science) with experience at the graduate level, an asset
Ability to teach in another subject area, an asset
Experience in an independent school, an asset
Previous teaching experience teaching, an asset
Knowledge of the learning styles of girls and young women
Knowledge of the use of ‘flipped classrooms’ and collaborative learning strategies, an asset
Knowledge of ‘standards-based’ assessment, an asset
Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching
Committed to the profession of teaching - best practices and standards of professional practice
